Frequent crashing in 6.0.3
Hi, Im having a problem with my final cut studio 2…… 6.0.3 operating on OSX 10.4.11. My Final Cut crashes every time i click something! If Im scrolling through a clip it just goes exits out of the program and there is no pop up warning after either. It happens multiple times per minute. I have no idea what it could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have 150 GB free space only 1 project on the program and 2 and a half hours of footage on this project.

Two things to try:
1) trash prefs
2) fix permissions on the system drive and media drives using Apple Disk Utility

Hey, I just tried that and its still exiting the program. I dont know if this is an issue but the footage im working with was ripped from a dvd as a VOB file, then i converted it to an AVI file in toast. now im trying to work with it in final cut. Perhaps its the file that is causing the program to crash?

Yes. Could be.
Does it crash with any other file?

You think? Maybe its because FCP doesn’t really work with AVI files. Use Compressor to convert the file to a Quicktime of the same file type as your sequence.

Thanks I think ive got it figured out, I imported some footage off a mini dv camera and have been able to work with the program for an hour now with no probs. So Im gona go back and try to convert those Avi files to quicktime files. I thought avi was what mac’s use. thanks for your advice guys.
