French Accents
Posted by Dave Simpson on June 28, 2010 at 4:03 pmHello,
We have to do a French Canadian version of an instructional video we have produced. Does anyone know if we need a special keyboard, or any kind of a plug in to do the text in AE?
Thanks
Dave

June 28, 2010 at 5:01 pmYou should be fine. We used to do French Canadian spots here all the time and there never was an accent mark that came up that wasn’t a regular mac shortcut.
Best,

Here’s a support doc for adding accents to characters on Mac OS X; here’s one for adding accents to characters on Windows XP and later.
Just a note with French — the accent aigu and the accent grave look similar, but have different uses, so take care when transcribing.

June 28, 2010 at 7:32 pmI found it best to get a text doc from the localization service, allowing me to cut and paste the text into AE. It’s faster that way, and there are no concerns about capitalization and such.

June 29, 2010 at 2:06 pmI like that idea. We have an office in Montreal so I’ll see if they can do all the graphics up as word docs.
Thanks
Dave
