    Hey guys,

I’ve got what might be a snow leopard glitch, or if not, it’s just something I don’t know how to fix.

Since I upgraded to snow leopard, whenever I render my timeline, it works great until I reopen the timeline, then scrub around, it lags badly, gives me the spinning ball, and then takes about 10-20 seconds to show me the next frame, then if i scrub again, the same thing happens. I have to reconnect the media to get it to unlock… then re-render etc…

    any ideas?

I’ll bet bottom dollar you didn’t do a clean “ground-up” install, right?

Try fixing permissions using Apple Disk Utility to see if that helps.

You win a dollar! Dammit… do you think that might be what did it? The thought of re-entering serial numbers for my whole saturday gave me the heebie-geebies, so i just clicked “install..”

I’ve done permission repairs a few times… no luck… What about an fsck – what’sitcalled in safe mode? Could that help? I think me and apple are in a lovers quarrel over this quicktime 10/quicktime 7 nonsense.

Heck yeah!!! As they say, “speed kills.” Cutting corners to avoid the hassle of a ground-up install is kinda like a box of chocolates, and thanks to Forest Gump we all know what that means.

Sorry… I mean when you boot with command S and do a fsck -y…

so, if i do a clean instal and use migration assistant to bring my software over… will that migrate my problems, or do i have to install stuff one by one from the disks?

Don’t use migration assistant. install all your pro software and plug-ins clean.

I know it’s an obvious question, but have you trashed your FCP prefs?

    Mike,

Not rubbing it in or anything, but can I suggest you take a look at the thread below you seemed to have missed that I started early in the week, entitled: Snow Leopard 101: For Smart People Only.
