I’m sure I sound like a total newbie, but I have a nested composition that contains a particle playground canon in it. I want to be able to freeze on a frame a little ways into the particle playground movie and then have that run the duration of the comp I’m working in.

Is that something done with time-remapping? Because I can’t get that to work and I see that it says it only works with video footage… So this likely doesn’t qualify?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Layer>Precompose (move all attributes into the new composition), then on the new precomp layer, Layer>Enable Time Remapping. Then click the “Add or Remove keyframe at current Time” button, under the eyeball. Right Click and “Toggle Hold Keyframe” and you should be good to go.

Precomposing is almost always a good first thing to try, solving many AE problems, it’s a render order thing I think.
