  • Freeze frame during playback on NTSC monitor

Posted by Mike Raff on August 23, 2007 at 10:16 pm

Every now and then my FCP systems do this weird thing: the video on the NTSC monitor stops displaying moving video when I play my sequence; it just shows the frame where the playhead was parked last time I stopped playing the sequence.

I’ve tried all these things: checked View>External Video> All Frames, shut down the Mac, trashed FCP prefs and repaired permissions.

Today this afflicted my FCP 4.5/OS 10.3.9/AJA Io/G5 Dual 2.0 system, but it’s also happened on my FCP 5.1.4/OS 10.4.8/Kona 2/G5 Dual 2.5 system.

Any ideas about what causes this (and how to quickly remedy the situation)?

    TIA

Not sure if this is your problem, but the mst common cause is the Canvas or Viewer not being set to fit to window or fit all.

    All the best,
