Free up Start up Disk space
I have a Mac G5 and use FCP 4.5. I am having MAJOR problems exporting QT movies to DVD Studio Pro cause it keeps saying that I have no free Start UP Disk space. It is on the Mac HD and the capacity is 152 GB of which I have 6 left unused. I have deleted all files from the HD and even got rid of a 90 minute project (all the files) and STILL it is not freeing up my Start Up space. What can I do? I have to get these projects into DVD Studio Pro and to a DVD. Am on a deadline.

First issue there, never ever put any media files on your Start Up Disk. It causes a whole host of issues as you write and delete media to/from the disk. Also you’re asking the computer to run the OS, the Apps and play the media at the same time.
My guess is your drive is severely fragmented and you need to run a program such as Disk Warrior to clean up the drive. Then DVDSP will probably work.

Many thanks. I have Techtools Pro Version 4 and I think you are talking about optimizing my volume on my hard drive. I am going to do that.
Yes, I have learned my lesson, no more media files on my HD.Thank you!
