Hey, with FCP there are a ton of people making free transitions like Eureka and Too Much Too Soon. Is there anything like these for MC 5.0 and up? I earched the web adn came up dry. Mainly looking for something to replace Eureka’s – Vapor Across and Too Much Too Soon, Wind Blur and Flash Frame.

Im running the Academic Version which didnt ship with Boris and Avid FX so i know the equivalents are there, but i got a week or two before i can shell out for the bundle and a project that cant wait.

Any help appreciated, even dont mind to pay if its within reason but so far all the 3rd party plugs i find for Avid are pretty pricey ie, couple hundred bucks for 7 light filters etc.

I appologise if I’ve got the wrong end of the stick, but I think that your school should be able to mark your project without expensive plug-ins.
I would have thought that it whould be the way you cut a project, not what someone else can create for your transitions that would matter.

ummm yea, no ones asking me to put said transitions into my cut, but its a fast paced interview and could really use some flash here and there .

Looks like ill have to wait for the production suite.

Free? None that I’m aware of.

You’re getting the production pack? Download the Boris Continuum Complete set of plugins – it’s what comes with the production pack. I believe the trial is fully functioning for 14 days(? – not entirely sure the length of time). I don’t think they watermark during the trial period either, but that may have changed. Use these until the production pack comes, punch in your serial number, continue working.

OK, I think it’s time I made a tutorial on how to make a flash transition and blur transition…and combo of both, using the basic set of Avid plugins. It’s kinda tricky, but cool.

ive experimented and with the combo of blur, light, and a bit magic bullet diffusion form “Looks” i can get something pretty much exactly like Eurekas “Vapor Across” transition.

thanks again for all the help.

Shane – outstanding as always – As a FCP7 (is there anyone making a living seriously using FCP X?) refugee used to hundreds of easy to apply plugins it’s nice to know it’s easy to roll your own

(Hey FCP 7 Plugin makers — there’s a big new market out here – convert those FX Factory and Natress plugins to AVID – we’ll buy them!)
