Designed for use with Technicolor CineStyle.

For the money you should really buy the Pomfort Plug-in but if, like me, you’ve blown the Christmas budget give this a try.

Controls for contrast – Low & High and RGB Shadows, Mids and Highs, which you can turn off.

I tested this against the Pomfort plug-in and the default settings matched best visually and on the scopes.

Setting to high contrast with the RGB controls turned off may produce better results on some footage.
Will depend on how you’ve exposed.

Can’t vouch for the technical accuracy. I’m hoping LUT Buddy is available for Motion 5 shortly.

Also a pretty close match with LUT Buddy loading the Technicolor supplied LUT into AE.

To use it like a LUT add it to an adjustment layer (text-less title) and stretch that out along your timeline.
Grade your clips with the color board or by adding other effects to the actual clip.

If necessary for your workflow you can use it like a viewer LUT in Nuke and turn it off for export by disabling the adjustment layer (select then press V).

Check out CoreMeltItFREE. It has a plugin called ‘RGB Levels and Curves’. Works just as we need it within FCPX. I’m using it for some LogC footage from an Alexa. We used a macbeth to calibrate from on the shoot and set up some characteristics from that. But easy to set up by eye roughly (and with built in scopes).
