Free Digital Asset Manager
I have a TON of drives. USB, FW800, TB etc. Most are serving as backup until we figure out our LTO system.
What I am looking for is a workflow to see what is on the drives with out actually plugging them in. The media/files do not need to be online but I would like to see folder structure and the naming. I could then tell what drive holds the file I am looking for.
I know that CATDV does this but we do not have CATDV (yet). Is there a way to do this in Adobe Bridge? Or some other free piece of software.

You could download the 30 day free trial of CatDV and give it a spin to see if it works for you. As for free, there’s nothing out there that’s free that we’ve found.

If something like that would work for you, you could also take a look at NeoFinder. Very mature and robust, but far less expensive than the traditional DAM / MAM solutions. Of course, it’s not as feature-rich, either.
