  • Frame rates and audio/video sync in Premiere 6.0

Posted by Rick Larose on December 13, 2005 at 12:31 pm

For some reason, a small number of my larger video files (3.4 gigabytes or so) were captured at 29.96 fps instead of 29.97 fps. So of course after exporting into a movie at 29.97 fsp, I’ve found the audio to be slightly out of sync after about the ten minute mark or so.

1.Is there any way to fix either the original file or the exported movie clip (about 18 min. long)?

    2. Why did Premiere 6.0 capture some of my video files at 29.96 frames per second in the first place?

    Thanks,
    Rick

You’re using a Canon video camera. Premiere 6.x has this problem with some Canon cameras because Canon does some funny things when it reports the frame rate information off the tape. It’s a pretty well known problem, and Adobe has a workaround available:

You will need to recapture all of your video that’s at 29.96.
