    Hi,

I’ve been scouring the forums looking for an answer , which i’m sure it’s a simple setting , that i can’t seem to figure out. I produce videos for my Racing clan on the Xbox, specifically Forza 3. Here’s my problem…
I capture all my footage using a Hauppage HD PVR at 1280x720x60fpsx13.5mbps. I’ve previously been using WMM to splice and dice and produce the replays, but I’m now requiring more editing options then the Windows prog has to offer. I’ve also been beginning to experience frame rate stutter/lag/jitter?? there so i figured the switch over to Vegas Pro 9.0 ( no identifiable suffix) would help.
I’ve tried every (well that i can remember now) setting possible. But it still has the stutter. (think jerky frame rates) Unfortunatly all my files are converted into .wmv( and play silky smooth in Media Player) and i no longer have the .ts original files to work off. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?
So far i have moved source files to a different hard drive, and render to a third (7200rpm 16 mb buffer).Any ideas? Target output is for youtube as well as streaming through my xbox( and potentially DVD’s for the guys). So i’m trying to render at 1280x720x30fps.I’ve adjust all the preview option to pull ram away from that.
Thanks in advance for your help, i’m about ready to put my foot through the comp i’m so annoyed and discouraged..lol

    1 80 gig 7200 for capture

This could simply be that your project settings for this source is not set correctly. In your project go to “File”, “Properties” and on the top right corner there is a button with he tool tip that reads “Match Media Settings”. Click this then browse to your wmv file source and select it. This will set the project to your source. Hopefully your stutters will go away.

Also .WMV is a compressed deliverabe format, not ideal for editing.
If you can’t get the original files, try setting your preview settings to preview auto. This wont change the quality of your rendered video, just get you a smoother playback. Your rendered files are fine right?

[Danny Hays] “Also .WMV is a compressed deliverabe format, not ideal for editing.”

I’m with Danny. WMV is a horrible format for editing. If you don’t have the original .TS files you should render to an AVI format using an intraframe codec like M-JPEG. Next time, keep your original files.

Yes correct, the .wmv play just fine over the media play or through my xobx. I’ll give the settings verification a while like you suggest and in the future i’ll try to just work with the TS files. Althogh I’ll still be looking to output to wmv so that i can stream them in 720 through the xbox. It’ smoothed out some last night when i tried to set everything to all the same frame rates, but as it’s racing action, any type of non fluid frame rate is going to be noticeable. Wish i had tried this earlier before i converted and deleted hundreds of gig of .ts files… since i was using WMM intially and it doesn’t play with .ts files… Thank you everyone so far for your help.. It’s greatly appreciated 🙂
