  • Frame blending on footage that is NOT speed changed?

I’m a long time Sony Vegas user who is learning FCP at work. I have some computer generated footage that is 60p, and I want to render it out to 30p. In Vegas, if you drop 60p footage on a 30p timeline, the resulting footage will be frame blended by default (or you can turn off the resampling if you prefer so that all that happens is every other frame is tossed out, rather than frames getting blended together).

For the life of me, I cannot find out how to do this kind of frame blending in FCP, or even if it’s possible. Every search I’ve done always returns information about frame blending when slowing down or speeding up a clip, but I’m not doing that. And all the test renders I’ve tried produce a non-frame-blended result.

So, when changing the frame rate of a clip in FCP, but not its actual playback speed, is there a way to blend frames?

The one thing I haven’t tried is speeding the clip up so that I get the frame blending, then slowing it back down to get the original playback speed. I’d like to avoid the double-step if I can.
