Fractal Noise troubles (lack of experience)
Hey everybody!
I’m new to After Effects. I own CS5.
I am having problems with the Fractal Noise effect. I am trying to make animation over the top of my video footage, and I am using the Fractal Noise effect on that animation. But when I use that effect, it also ends up all over my video footage.Is there a way to make the effect react with the animation only?(I cannot put the animation and effect behind the video layer, otherwise my video will simply cover my animation).
Or
Is there an altearnate way to make the animation on its own then to layer it ontop of my video footage? (When I try this method, I just end up with the animation on a black canvas which covers my video footage).
Any help will be most appriciated!

Without knowing what you’re trying to achieve, I’m going to suggest using Blending Modes or Track Mattes to isolate the Fractal Noise effects to the layers you want.
