I have done a series of interviews for an upcoming museum exhibit and have edited them using Vegas. I rendered the clips as MPEG-2 files and subtitled the clips in Architect. I then produced DVDs so that the exhibit’s designers could see what the clips looked like. They are happy with everything.
Today, however, I talked with the person who is building the software for the exhibit [the clips will be on a touch screen–visitors will first see a collection of mugshots and headlines, when they touch a picture they will be taken to a longer description of the clip, and can then hit play or back out to the contents page]. He said he would prefer that the clips not be MPEG-2 but that they either be AVI or QuickTime files or that they be backed out to mini-DV.
I am old to interviewing, but relatively new to video and completely new to this level of editing. Can someone walk me through the procedures of putting these interviews and subtitles in the formats this guy is asking for? Are there advantages to any of them? Is there one that is easiest?

Render to the standard DV template(Type: Video for Windows – avi files). You will have to create the subtitles as text events on the track above the edited video. These cannot be turned on and off as on the DVD.
After rendering, Print To DV tape.
