Hello, first time poster (rookie)
I will try and make this as short and easy as possible.
I will be editing multiple formats on FCP for final format in FLV for a corporate website. Basically will be utilizing multiple videographers around the country who will be filming in multiple video formats. They then will upload their files to our fast server.
1. Should they capture in their native camera format and upload files?
2. Should they capture then convert to a standard format for ingestion?
(What is the best format with less compression artifacts)These will all be in the 30-45 minute time frame.
This is a new workflow so I am trying to work out any bugs…any advise would be great

If you are planning on editing these mov files they are going to be huge! FTP is great for final web delivery (even DVD files if you have all night). Probably the only usable format is going to be H264 at full resolution and frame rate. Then when you get them you need to convert them to something like DV or ProRes to edit them. A lot of work and time. Sending actual media is still the way to go for the editing process.

As Michael points unless you use H264 or MPEG-2, the uploading will be something crazy.
The question is how do you intend to process the rushed before making the final web video.
If you intend to apply effects, graphics etc, H264 should be transcoded. MPEG-2 could work better in FC.
