    Hi,
Can any one out there tell me how to format my OCZ 240GB Vertex 3 SATA111 SSD in a Mac Pro?.
i can format a SATA11 but Black Magic recommend SATA111. Is it that the Mac Pro is not compatible with SATA111 if so what other way is there?.

SATA III is backward compatible with SATA II (or the original SATA for that matter), so you should be able to pop your SATA III SSD into a Mac Pro and format it, no problem. If for some reason you can’t, it’s not a problem with SATA III – it’s some other issue.

I connect the SATA111 via a USB dock to Mac Pro but it does not show in the disk utility, a SATA11 does, this leads me to think that the Mac is not compatible with SATA111 SSD’S.

Methinks that particular drive is having issues with that particular dock. My girlfriend says it happens to her all the time.

I think my problem has been solved, Apple has yet to incorporate SATA111 controllers in the Mac, info of the net.
