Format for playback on Television
I am a first time user of Sony Vegas. So far I have imported two clips originally done on my Sony DVD camcorder and joined them together. I have then made a movie through “moviemaker” wizard. My question is, when I play these back the quality is a bit grainy and not the same as the original clips. Ultimately I want to join clips together then play back on a television screen. Why is it grainy, what format should I use?

First of all, what is “moviemaker” wizard?
Secondly, what version of Vegas do you have? If it’s Movie Studio instead of the full Vegas, please say so. -
Your DVD camcorder compresses your video to the Mpeg2 format. When you make changes (including combining clips)and rendering that to a new file, you are RE-compressing the already compressed video and the quality suffers.
Bottom line: Mpeg2 is not a good aquisition format if you are going to be editing it later.
