Force optimized transcode
Is there a way to force a transcode on import of camera files? I have C300 files (50Mbps XF). I want these to be transcoded to ProRes on import, but FCP X sees this as an optimized format, so the option is greyed out. Therefore, no transcode and the copies are the same codec. Any way to change this?
Also the imported files default to being named with the UID instead of the camera name. It can be renamed to the original camera name in the Event Browser, but the media files have the UID. Any way to change this default behavior, since the UID name is meaningless to other users down the line working with other applications.

I don’t think you can change this.
Perhaps the best way to accomplish this is with compressor. Maybe that is where you could change the usd name as well.

This works fine with FCP 7 L&T, so I’ll probably just use that for conversion/ingest and then cut in X.
