For those that are curious about how fast Thunderbolt drives are…..
Tom’s Hardware did a test with Lacie external drives using the Thunderbolt connection. A lot of drives. Link if interested:

Nice… that’s scary fast. 😉 My MacBook Pro has a Thunderbolt port but I haven’t bought a drive for it yet. Looks promising.

I found this comparison on the VideoGuys.com web site (which by-the-way is a great place to buy your gear) 😉
Thunderbolt is 12x faster than Firewire 800 which was already 2x faster than the Firewire 400 found on PC’s. If you click on the image you’ll be linked to the VideoGuys page where I got it from and it also says that “USB3 is more than 1.5 times faster than eSata, and every bit as solid.“. I’ve got my CineRAID connected via eSATA but it also has a USB 3.0 connection. I think I should try it out and do some bench-marking.
