The recent post on the canon of Technology:

    https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2010/09/introducing-the-tech-canon/62818/#slide50

It lists both movies on the topic (Blade Runner, 2001: A Space Odyssey), as well as current works and classics, both fiction and non-fiction chronicling where technology came from, and where it’s going. I found several which are going on my “to be read” list. Scroll down to the slideshow, and flip through the list.

There’s also a very good comments section discussing works which should/should not have made the list. Titles that jumped out at me were: Tracy Kidder, Soul of a New Machine, Martin Heidegger, The Question Concerning Technology, and David Edgerton, The Shock of the Old.
