April 23, 2009 at 4:50 pmSorry for the double post…
In addition, I’m getting an error that states there is a “problem setting up the transcoder” and then the program crashes (Send error report/don’t send…).

April 23, 2009 at 5:00 pmIt sounds like you are having a codec or video card problem.
Try the following things.
Download and install “K-Lite”
Diagnose your DirectX drivers by typing “dxdiag” into RUN in the Start Menu
Try changing the format of the files (if possible) outside of Encore. Try importing MPG2, different AVI codecs, or h.264… see how that works… If you have premiere, sometimes it’ll work as a quick file-format changer…
Grab a RAM memory test freeware. I recommend this one.

You’ll need to create a boot-disk, restart, and let it do it’s thing.
Try re-installing your Video Card Drivers.
What Anti-virus are you running… Try disabling it or uninstalling it.. if you’re worried about viruses.. disable or disconnect
Worst case scenario… reinstall Encore CS3
Super worst case scenario.. back up your stuff… wipe your drives.. reinstall XP and CS3
Let us know how it goes.. I hope you get it figured out. Good Luck!

April 23, 2009 at 5:02 pmI will certainly try those and post responses.
Most likely, I’ll attempt to rebuild the project before I go nuclear on my hard drive 😉 It’s a big project, but I could probably rebuild it in a couple of days since all the elements are done.
Any suggestions on what file formats make Encore happiest (.mov/.avi, etc.)?
Thanks again!!!

April 24, 2009 at 6:16 pmSo I’ve lost about a week dealing with this issue, and I just decided to rebuild the entire project from scratch, using all the original files, etc.
Since the menus were already built, videos already rendered, etc., it took about 2½ hours and it worked fine. I let it transcode overnight and everything was fine.
I tried “Save As” at one point, and was having the same issues as the original project. So, just a “File… New…” away was the answer all along…
I did limit all of my processes to only Encore during the transcode/build process and that certainly helped. It transcoded everything and imported everything just fine.
Any upgrades to stability in CS4? I will be upgrading in just a couple of months anyway, just wondering if I have something to look forward to in that regard 😉
Thanks for your help!
