This is a quote from a Avid tip from the Avid Newsletter.

“For those struggling to learn the Avid interface, don’t fight it. You’ll find it comes much
easier if you abandon the “Well, Premiere/Vegas/FCP/Liquid/etc. does it THIS way”
mentality, and learn Avid’s way of thinking. ”

This goes ditto for learning FCP!

That blurb was for the benefit of the gentleman who just crawled out from under a rock, ’cause he’s the only one migrating to Avid these days 🙂

I was just thinking yesterday, as Fedex dropped of my Kona LHe, how much I don’t miss Avid.

agreed mostly, but actually vegas is not really like those other apps.

most people who have never edited before find it the easiest to learn.

[Borjis] “most people who have never edited before find it the easiest to learn.”

And, once they’ve learned Vegas they will never be able to work professionally anywhere, because they’ve learned a paradigm that exists no where in the industry. However, the good news is, they will be able mix all formats on the timeline. Not much consulation however…

yeah thats the odd bit about vegas.

Its very powerful, very stable and its the only editor I know that actually
has robust high quality DVE options that work well without
any workarounds like all the other editing apps have to do.

but things like no edl and some other oddities make it not so popular.
