I have a commercial that I edited in the Avid and then exported into After Effects. In AE I did some simple adjustments, basically masked out part of the shot and repositioned some of the shots, dropped a graphic on top and rendered with the Media Composer Uncompressed settings.
For some reason one of the shots in my spot is really soft now. I did not blow it up, just repositioned it. There are no other effects on top. Any clue as to why this is??? It is driving me crazy. Thanks in Advance.

Double check you fields and make sure you haven’t lost a field somewhere in the transfers or interpretation. If your soft shot is the only interlaced one, you may have exported it without both fields (which then would look bad in AE as well), or you’re not interpreting the interlaced footage as interlaced in AE.

Start by figuring out where it first went soft, to isolate if the problem is in your Avid export, your AE import, or your AE export.

    Hope it helps.

I tested everything. It is definitely not a field issue or an interlacing issue. I finally took of the position change and left everything else the same and rendered it and the shot is crystal clear. Why is my footage getting blurry just because I changed the position? This simple project has turned into a full day of frustration. Any other thoughts?

Thank you! This seems to have done the trick. I went up one pixel and it was clear. Down one pixel and it was clear. But the initial vertical pixel I had chosed was fuzzy. Sort of time consuming by at least it’s good now. Thanks.
