  • Footage import problems – after trying SD import

Posted by Arturo Glass on February 16, 2008 at 6:10 pm

I’ve been working on a project for the past 3 months, importing with no problem using the following settings:

    Sequence Preset: HDV-1080i60
    Capture Preset: HDV
Device Control Preset: Sony HDV Firewire

Today I changed the import setting to try and import some footage for another project in SD, which didn’t work. Nothing captured. So switching the setting back to the above and now the video plays through to my display but nothing is recording to disk. I triple-checked scratch disks and they’re fine.

But, if I switch the Capture Preset to Apple Intermediate Codec, it starts importing ok. What I don’t want though is to be importing at 42GB per hour for my offline, so trying to use the HDV setup to limit it to around 13GB / hour.

What could be causing this problem?

Instead of changing all the indivdual settings, try changing teh Easy Setup to HDV 1080i60 and see if that fixes everything for you.

Tried that already and still the same results.

It’s strange because the video plays back on my monitor, delayed, which makes me think it is being converted but for some reason not writing to disk. I’ve tried changing my scratch disk to a local disk but no luck either.
