hey guys, i know this has been covered, except i also know that technology changes everyday, so i figured i’d ask again. sorry.

im working on a documentary for a band, the charms, http://www.thecharms.net

i have footage from all over the place.

    consumer canon handicam
    canon xl2-24p mode 16×9 non-advance
    dvx100a-24p mode 4×3 non advance

i captured everything 29.97, as this will only end up on tape and dvd. the footage looks great, however when i intercut between the handicam which is non 24p and the other footage, i can tell a difference. obviously. ie applied the flicker filter, and done some color correction.

i’ve heard the nattress filters are awesome…but im cheap, and all out of budget. im editing on both my ibook g4, with fcp 4.5 and my dual 1.8ghz g5 with fcp 4.5.

    thanks!!!!

Since you could not afford to make these decisions before you went into shooting, work with what you shot. Adopt the style of the footage. Strive to tell your story and forget trying to make it look it like a competent crew shot it with matched cameras.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

yeah, im not really looking for anytype of balanced look, its the nature of these rock and roll docs that are shot on all sorts of formats, was just wondering if anyone had any cool tricks! heck, half the footage was shot by the band themselves!

You can add the Film Effects filters from http://www.nattress.com to get the 24p look onto your 30i footage. it does a darn good job.
