Can a foot pedal be used with CatDV to help with the video playback while transcribing interviews? If so, any suggestions as to the pedal? Is there additional software needed to run the pedal? I am using a mac. Again – thanks for any help that can be provided.

I’ve used a three button one with a program called “Video Footware”. I think it’s long gone now.

It didn’t really catch on, but I see a few on Amazon that should work fine.

We programmed left = skip back – middle = pause/play and Right was enter TC.

Do you need to purchase the pedal and some software? Or does CatDV recognize a foot pedal some how? I’ve searched for Video Footware and can’t seem to find it. Probably long gone like you said.

CatDV doesn’t have any device drivers.

That’s one for the record right there.

But, like fancy logitech mice, most pedals come with software that lets them emulate keystrokes. In the end, these are just “feet mice”.

The following is NOT a recommendation, merely an example. I have no knowledge of whether or not this works with CatDV but if a device sends a key command to your computer, CatDV will, like any application, receive it.

Again, buy from someone who’ll take a return and test.
