Font Install in Final Cut Pro
Posted by Dani_starr on August 30, 2007 at 5:46 pmI’m on FCP 6.0.1.
I just installed a new font necessary for a commercial project. The font works fine in all of my programs – Word, AE, Photoshop. But when I try to use it in FCP – it just doesn’t show up in the font list.
It is a TTF font. It is in my font book and it exists in all of my library/font folders.
Any ideas for how to get this font working in FCP?
Thanks!

August 30, 2007 at 6:08 pmNo, just using the text option in the viewer – right in Final Cut.
Any ideas?

August 30, 2007 at 6:48 pmNo ideas at all? I can reinstall. Do I have to restart the computer after I do that? I’ve tried restarting multiple times, and opening and closing FCP – but that hasn’t helped yet.
Is there a way I can see the list of fonts that are in FCP – or is it just a link to my library/fonts file? Is there a way to refresh that link?
Let me know! Thanks!

August 30, 2007 at 7:59 pmA reboot is almost necessary after installing fonts. That’s been my experience.

August 30, 2007 at 8:18 pmI had this problem on my new MacPro, font appeared everywhere except FCP. I got rid of it in font book and rebooted and all is fine.
I was told it could be that the font is installed twice, once under the user and once in the lib.mmmmm.. seems o.k

August 30, 2007 at 11:03 pmI deleted all of the “avian” fonts in every fonts folder. Then I went and reinstalled. And same problem. The font shows up in the font book – it works fine in text edit, in AE, in Photoshop – but it just doesn’t show up in the list of fonts in FCP.
Anyone have ideas for me? Thanks!

August 31, 2007 at 12:25 amWhich font folder did you install it in. There is
Macintosh HD/Users/ericpetersonAL/Library/Fonts
but also
Macintosh HD/Library/Fonts
Put the font you want in the other one and see if it shows up.
