    I’m on FCP 6.0.1.

I just installed a new font necessary for a commercial project. The font works fine in all of my programs – Word, AE, Photoshop. But when I try to use it in FCP – it just doesn’t show up in the font list.

It is a TTF font. It is in my font book and it exists in all of my library/font folders.

Any ideas for how to get this font working in FCP?

    Thanks!

    Are you using Title 3D?

No, just using the text option in the viewer – right in Final Cut.

    Any ideas?

Try it and see if it appears in Title 3D.

    Nope, no luck there either.

Sorry. Can’t help. Can’t see why it wouldn’t work.

No ideas at all? I can reinstall. Do I have to restart the computer after I do that? I’ve tried restarting multiple times, and opening and closing FCP – but that hasn’t helped yet.

Is there a way I can see the list of fonts that are in FCP – or is it just a link to my library/fonts file? Is there a way to refresh that link?

    Let me know! Thanks!

A reboot is almost necessary after installing fonts. That’s been my experience.

I had this problem on my new MacPro, font appeared everywhere except FCP. I got rid of it in font book and rebooted and all is fine.
I was told it could be that the font is installed twice, once under the user and once in the lib.

    mmmmm.. seems o.k

I deleted all of the “avian” fonts in every fonts folder. Then I went and reinstalled. And same problem. The font shows up in the font book – it works fine in text edit, in AE, in Photoshop – but it just doesn’t show up in the list of fonts in FCP.

Anyone have ideas for me? Thanks!

Which font folder did you install it in. There is
    Macintosh HD/Users/ericpetersonAL/Library/Fonts
    but also
    Macintosh HD/Library/Fonts
Put the font you want in the other one and see if it shows up.
