Font control tab does not function in Encore CS6

Hello,
I just started using Encore CS6. I have attempted to add a button to a menu, and added a text label (or a text field) to the menu. I am unable to use the feature of the Text Control tab where I can drag the
mouse over a “T” and make the font bigger, change kerning, etc. I can do this only by
entering a number in the size field – like 115% instead of 100%, etc. The ability in Photoshop and After Effects to alter text tracking, kerning, and size is handy. This feature does not seem to be in CS6 Encore,
although it show up in the text control tab. What am I missing here?

By character control is difficult, if it works. Save yourself the grief, even if you get it to work: use “edit in Photoshop” for menu modification.
