    Hi everyone!

Hope someone has a little hint on this one:

I need an effect in AE to simulate a clouded (foggy) mirror in a bathroom. I need the fog on the mirror to appear and disapear, i.e. I need exactly the effect when taking a hot shower and then opening a window for a stram of cold air!

I tried a white solid with a mask and modified the opacity. I think I need some distortion (maybe fractalclouds) do I? Is there any plugin which covers this issue???

    Thanx a billion

    Cheers

I think you’ll need to do a combination of white masking to decrease contrast, as well as a blur effect to simulate the refraction from the water condensation on the mirror.

Also- if you have to show the effect gradually, the condensation will appear on the cooler parts of the mirror, which will be at the bottom. So the “fog” will creep up the mirror…

Try breathing on a real mirror to see what it looks like…

There is one effect that will work pretty well.

slightly blur your image. add a turbulent displacement and make it size 2 or 3 with medium complexity so that it looks like the bathroom glass. then make a gradient map so that the fog doesn’t cover everything if you dont want it too.
