    Hi there.

I’m a novice user of Cinema 4d. I have this scene set up where i move a model
trough a cube which is equipped with a material with only the fog parameter set.
Whenever I render the image, the model doesn’t Anti-Alias (i get jagged edges).
When I turn off the cube (and thus the fog) the model does Anti-Alias.

    How can I fix this?

Also, does anyone know of a better way to render fog in stead of just
slapping a fog material on a cube? I also have a volumetric light, but that gives
almost the same effect really. Is there a way to render fog with “impurities” perhaps?

You could add noise on the noise tab of your volumetric light. Nice thing is it can be animated as well.

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes i can add noise, but there are only 4 noise options and you can’t really adjust the noise like
when you are adding it to, say, the color layer of a material.

Also, this isn’t my main issue, but the Anti-Alias thing is, any idea on that?

In your render settings, do you have your anti-aliasing set to BEST?

As for adjusting the noise, there are plenty of settings there to adjust the noise. Are you going for the look of fog, or something else?

Can you post a file for me to take a look at?

Hard to tell what could be going on without seeing it.

If it’s not working with the default Best AA you’ll have to bump up the Min/Max values. Try 2×4 and go up from there (4×4, 4×8, etc.).

If the fog material and area lights aren’t working you might try experimenting with Pyrocluster (if you have it).

Thank you all for your relies. However I have already experimented with ALL settings in the AA tab and they didnt do anything.

As for pyrocluster, I have it and i fiddled around with it but it takes hours to render
and didn’t really make a nebula the way i wanted it, probably because I don’t have much
expereicne with it. Do you know any good tuturials that cover Pyrocluster?

I don’t know of any PC tutorials, but in terms of speed the key settings are on the material that goes on the environment object (world step size and ray trans. limit).

I don’t know why the AA settings aren’t working for you. They work here.
