Focus Monitor and Data BU Question
Hi there,
We are soon shooting a feature in Cameroon Highlands and are selecting the gear, and need to consider price, weight, realiability and redundancy, being so far away from any service options. Any help on a few questions would be appreciated:
We are thinking of using the Marshall V-R70P-HDA monitor with the Panasonic battery option for critical focus. We are then considering passing analog HD out of that to a consumer HD lcd monitor for the Director. For about 2K we have both covered. What are other people doing? I’m about to purchase the Marshall and would love to hear if we should be going in a different direction. Are there other HD monitor options in this price range?
For Data BU we are bringing 14 bare Sata 320GB drives and plan to backup redundantly using 2 Traydocks from Wiebetech. We want 2 seperate units (for redundancy of all gear too), and those will let us use any of our mac or PC laptops (being both FW and USB) for backup. BTW- we are using the P2Store and a G4 laptop (via cardbus) and a Macbookpro (via USB) for BU machines. would be nice if there was a way to pop the P2 into the macbook, but so far this does not seem to exhist. I’m also considering the ToughTech EX instead and just swapping the drives out when full. I’m looking at other enclusure companies – Granite Digital for ex. Any Advice, thoughts, or gotchas? Our power will come from a 110 Generator OR a 12 V battery bank with inverters (charged by the generator prior).
Thanks in advance,
