    Hi Everyone,

Im trying to create and effect of flying through 3d fog with words flying up to camera and then over it. Ive looked at he fractal noise but havnt seen a way to make it look like its flying or for the text to seem like its actually coming through the fog.
I have trapcodes particular to work with too.

Im sure someone must have done it before. Any easy ideas 🙂 ?

    Thanks Guys

    Paul

I would recommend looking into Particular’s “Visibility” properties, specifically the start vanish near property. You can’t make a text layer appear out from behind particles naturally, but you can make them disappear as they approach the camera, then animate the camera to approach the text. The result should be something like the text layer emerging from the fog.

As far as the fog itself, you can use particular’s built in cloudlet or smokelet, or for more control make your own custom particle out of fractal noise.

You could use an expression that links the text layer’s opacity to its distance from camera. Search the COW (advanced, search the archives) for opacity, distance and camera simultaneously.

Also, you could use a fractal noise layer as the track matte for the text, but animate its opacity the same way.

All of this over a white background.
