I was wondering if their an easier way of creating “flying lights”… small bright dots that make streaks (if you still don’t know, see the Ipod nano how-to, that’s sort of the same thing, but with constant streaks). I’ve tried particle illusion, but the rendering seems all to slow to make continuous streaks and to make them fly in a correct 3d space…. whey I try to make them spin, turn, etc on screen, they never seem to go in the right direction. Doing 1 is hard enough, doing more than 1 at a time is way to time consuming and often fruitless.

    Please help!

Not sure if I made myself clear, but that was the how-to I was refering too. I was looking for some tips/advice on how to do it more effecticly with better control of the lights in 3d space. Particular is hard to control to keep a steady/solid streak going as well. Sorta like WSVN’s light style.

Basically you create a null or other 3D object and parent your particle position to it.

Maltaannon’s tutorial on growing vines in AE uses such a technique to keyframe the movement of a light to control the position of particles in Particular. You might want to check that out…

That’s 3D Stroke with Glow applied.
Man, that news station is trying WAY too hard to be hip.
