Flying a 7D
Good Morning….
We’ll be flying a 7D or 60D soon. We’ve been shooting 24p, but I’m wondering if 30 might be better when flying a DSLR?

What would flying have to do with the frame rate you shoot? Many many aerial shots are done 23.98. Including film (well, that’s actual 24fps).
You shoot the frame rate that you are working with…don’t change it just because you are shooting some other thing. Keep a consistent frame rate throughout your project. Mixing frame rates in projects is highly problematic.

Yes, maintain a constant frame rate for sure. Movement and DSLR footage sometimes don’t mix well… I was thinking going to 29.97 might help a little?

Basically you want to avoid whip pans, jarring camera movements, and I don’t personally care for handheld with dslrs. Now, if you follow the old advice from the days of film, you can move the camera, but keep motions fluid and natural and avoid vertical lines and objects, small, tight patterns, etc. Visit https://www.nofilmschool.com in the dslr section for tons of great info. Using a longer shutter will work to help smooth out rough edges, but good camera work in general will help you out a lot.

Do you mean you are literally flying with the camera (ie: taking on a plane, blimp, balloon, etc.) or did you simply mean you were using a DSLR (flying as a metaphor)?
