I’m trying to achieve some floating particles similar to this:

I especially like how the particles collide with the floor and bounce off (though it seems that it doesn’t happen with every particle).

I started going down the Thinking Particles road, but that seems a bit complicated. Is Mograph a possibility? So far I haven’t found the right combo of MoGraph gravity, Custom mass, etc to evoke a dust mote. But if I could, I wouldn’t have to mess with all the Xpresso to get the dust to collide with the floor.

    Any thoughts much appreciated.

    its thinking particles.
Here what the expresso looks like.
Then all you have to do is adjust the settings in the deflector object. To “Object” type.

Or if you want you can use the standard particle emitter with Mograph. In that case you would set a cloner to object mode and then drag the emitter into the object link box. Give the cloner and the ground plane Mograph rigid body tags and away you go.

    Hey Randy,

I’ve got everything set up according to the diagram above, but the particle are still falling through my plane (floor)… any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Ahhh….don’t forget to make your particle an editable object.
