Hello there. I am back from a long hiatus from video editing and I’m having a problem with some of my old projects in Vegas 12. I created these products in Vegas 9. I have since upgraded to 12 and bought a very nice new laptop with the specs to support editing and high graphics gaming. It runs very smoothly with no issues other than the one below.

The issue is between some clips, either those that are layered over others on different timelines or when using a crossfade transition, I get a flicker of the edges of the image from the clip before it and I cannot seem to get rid of it. Some clips will flicker images at strange resolutions or straight up glitchy looking patterns and bars.

I was able to fix one of these clips which was a simple text media I just recreated, but for the video footage that I have already edited and finalized, I don’t know how to fix it.

I wanted to do some touching up and re-render these projects again and it’s this tiny thing that is preventing me from being able to spend time on new projects. 🙁

What can I do to fix this?

    Thank you.

Try re-applying the transitions/filters on the
timeline where the problems are, re save the project
and restart Vegas and see if they are still there.

Thanks for the response. I tried messing around with it in almost every way I could think of. The only thing that seems to work is completely reimporting and editing the clips from scratch. 🙁 Since there are a quite a few of them between all of my old projects I was hoping there might be an easy fix so I could avoid all that tedious work. A side effect to opening projects from an earlier version? Or am I missing something more obvious?

On another note, I got this error on one project: An error occurred while trying to open project file from an earlier version. An error occurred while opening a codec.

Thoughts on how to fix that? It’s my oldest project and I was using a lot more… not so great media clips. The file I’m sure it’s having issues with is AVI.
