  • Flicker line on preview monitor

    Hi,
I’m running Sony Vegas Pro 11. The preview monitor appears to have this line near the top which kind of flickers when there is panned movement. It’s almost as if the tiny bit of footage above this line seperates from the rest. The interesting thing is if I use the external monitor…it’s not there? But it is in the preview monitor within vegas.
The footage is fine because if I play it in Windows media player it is smooth and clear, in fact it’s clearer than in Vegas in Best(full)..is this right?

    Thanks for any advice.

Sounds like in Vegas you are seeing the OVERSCAN areas of the footage. Vegas WILL always provide everything for you to view – this is a good thing! However, what TVs and Players will do is show you an UNDERSCAN of the footage/video, in which case anything outside those areas will be masked-out. Historically, and still maybe(?) it would be the area that the transmission data for sync and so forth would be transmitted, but this area was would be hidden. You can also get the “noise” coming from VCR/VHS tapes in this area too.

What footage are you viewing? – What goes on in Vegas, is also SEEN in Vegas!

    Thanks for the reply Graham.
But I do not see this on other media players? The footage is clean and free from any kind of interference.
The footage I’m viewing was shot on my Canon 6D, HD and 50fps. It’s lovely quality so why this is showing up I have no idea. The thing is, with other projects using the same camera there does not seem to be this?

It interferes with editing so I need it gone.

Also, If i put the same footage into another program such as Magix Video Pro X4 it plays fine and smooth with clear resolution?

Does anyone have any solutions within Vegas Pro please?

Have you Matched the Project Settings to the Camera Footage?

Are you able to supply a screengrab of the issue?

Yeah settings are matched with the footage. I’ve tried different combinations. I’ll try and upload a screen shot later today.

    thanks
