I haven’t bought a RAID array since the Drobo years ago (ok, it’s not a true RAID, but still). Obviously the Drobo won’t work well for editing media, so I’d like to find out what storage devices media folk are buying these days that 1) allows drives to be hot-swapped, 2) doesn’t limit the brands or sizes of the drives that can be installed, and 3) ideally could be set as a network storage device (though I guess this isn’t a deal breaker). I was looking at G-Raids, but they appear to be pretty limited as far as what you can do if one of the drives dies.

So, what are you good people buying for redundant media drives these days?

I just set up a SansDigital 4 bay mini sas raid (5) with 3TB Hitachi drives, works for me, not “hot swappable” check out some of their other towers which may be.
