  • Flash video or MP4 for web video?

I know this isn’t a Vegas specific question, but I,m wondering which format would be best for web videos. 1) Flash or 2) MP4 with a QT player. It is my understanding that with MP4 you need to “move the metadata” in order for the video to start playing immediately. If I use MP4, I can save a render step by not encoding to Flash (wish Vegas could do a direct Flash render). I am wondering about a high level of playability, though. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

Flash is dead. Adobe has abandoned mobile Flash for HTML5. More people are surfing the web on mobile devices / tablets than desktops and lots of mobile devices don’t do Flash (none of the Apple devices do).

Use MP4 without a question of a doubt if you are worried about compatibility. The MainConcept AVC encoder in Vegas Pro can make streaming MP4 files for you.
