‘flash frame’ playback issue with Premiere Pro CS6 + CUDA enabled Mac + Blackmagic I/O
There is a playback issue with Premiere Pro CS6 + CUDA enabled Mac + Blackmagic hardware.
When you scrub through a sequence and hit play, you see a ‘flash frame’ from the last shot before it starts playing on your reference monitor.
This issue can be reproduced by anyone that has a Mac with CUDA GPU and a Blackmagic I/O.
I’ve tested this on a MacBook Pro Retina with Ultrastudio 3D
New generation iMac + Nvida GTX680 MX + Ultrastudio 3D
Mac Pro with a GTX680 for Mac + Decklink 3DAll systems running 10.8.3 with latest Premiere CS6 , CUDA driver and Blackmagic 9.7.3 driver.
Footage doesn’t matter. It happens with ProRes, h264 footage etc..
When you disable CUDA in Premiere and set to Software Only the problem is gone.
It looks like a Premiere related caching issue from the CUDA card to the Blackmagic I/O.
Because DaVinci Resolve on all these systems runs flawless with the Blackmagic I/O.Would be nice if this issue will be fixed.
Anyone can test this.
Just scrub and hit play and look at your reference monitor.
