    Hey all,

Beginner here. In fact, I just downloaded the demo version and am playing around for the first time!

I’m trying to do a basic flag animation. I found a good tutorial here:

The problem I’m having is the American flag image I’m importing is not a perfect rectangle. I wanted a realistic looking flag and found a picture online. But the edges aren’t perfectly straight. So when I save it in photoshop, there is a small amount of transparency around the edges.

Now when I make a plane in Cinema 4D and drop the flag in, there is a black edge around the flag. I thought it would render that as transparent, but it’s not. When I bring the rendered animation into After Effects, there’s still the black edge.

Sorry…don’t know if this is making any sense! If it is and you might know what the problem is I’d be happy to hear it! 🙂

    Thanks!

I’d try to find an image that does have straight edges (there are a lot of flag images out there) but otherwise you need to make an alpha channel for the image which you can use in the Alpha channel of the material to remove the black parts.

Have you tried adding the same image to the alpha channel of the texture?
