Fixing images that flicker or vibrate?
We are always wrestling with images that vibrate (or flicker) during a zoom or move. Files that have too much resolution seem to be the worst. We often lower the resolution and apply a gaussian blur to fix the problem.
It would be great to be able to fix all the images in some kind of batch routine.Is anyone aware of a way to do this?
Even a sure fire step by step that could become an action would be good. (We could have interns do this)
Surely someone has a better way than the laborious processing we are currently doing.

What type of footage/images are you talking about?

Sorry about that! I meant to say the images are still images (photos- most often) that we incorporate into a video by doing a move on it.

I find 1000×1000 pixels(approx) and 150 dpi, then save as a png or jpeg gets you close most of the time. Big enough for a move and without a lot of alising.
I think every one who deals with stills has their own process devolped by trial and error.

I end up bluring the images in selected areas quite a bit in photoshop. The “open in external editor” feature in FCP provides a good round trip.
Duplicate your masters though. Photoshop can be distructive to photos if you’re not careful.
