fixing audio problems with imported ichat
I’ve exported an ICHAT audio interview into Final Cut 5…then used the edit platform to do some basic cutting and equalizing, levels adjustments.
BUT, it still sounds like a poor telephone conversation, with occasionally very “tinny” sounding dialogue.
The interviews are important, and cannot be repeated. But they were recorded through a lousy connection, in a thrid world country.The background noise is low…so we’re just talking about cleaning up a voice.
Are there certain tried and true methods for cleaning up the audio?
Can anyone throw in advice for proper audio filters? I’m hoping to save some serious trial and error time here! -

Other than eq to bring up the bottom there’s not much you can do. You can try FCPs multi-band compressor and use it to bring up the bottom. Maybe there’s an audio plugin that can help. I know Waves had a mega-bass (?) plugin that enhanced the bottom end for music, but that usually requires that there is some bottom to begin with. Good luck.
