fix DV footage
Posted by Amit Zinman on September 3, 2006 at 12:49 pmHi,
I have some footage shot in the DVX-100 and I can see the pixels in the footage. Is there any plug-in that can fix that, “guess” the missing pixels and improve the picture quality?Amit

September 3, 2006 at 12:56 pmI don’t know if I understand exactly the problem you are describing but I have a feeling that it could be a really simple solution. If you have just captured your footage and you are looking at this quicktime and it looks crap, then try converting it to square pixels. This should make your footage a lot sharper and clearer.
Sorry if I have misunderstood you…

September 3, 2006 at 1:07 pmI think this is more to do with the quality of the camera/footage. It possibly was shot in 16:9 which degrades the material somewhat. I know there is somewhere a plug-in the upscales DV to HDV. There must be something that can fix my footage to look better other than square pixels. I am looking at it on Avid.

September 4, 2006 at 10:08 pmNot exactly sure what you’re trying to solve, but you could try a de-noiser … a decent one comes with Key Correct Pro and you may be able to find a free one if you hunt around.:

Or you could try a up-rez’er like InstantHD:

or Resizer

with a review/comparison of sorts here:
