first time mac buyer- specs advice needed
hey there,
this is probably very old news but hoping someone out there can help. I’m buying an editing system for a school- i’ve worked in tv industry in the uk for the past 6 years and used avid loads at work/home for this. however i reckon final cut will be better for the school/kids- am thinking for the school of getting an imac with the following specs: 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; 2gb memory; ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB graphics; 320 gb hard drive. i’ll get the imac pre installed with final cut express 4.
My questions to you guys is this: 1 -is the machine powerful/reliable enough to run final cut express (i’m used to avid/windows throwing hissy fits? 2- is final cut express suitable for my cutting needs (i imagine we’re not going to use the machine for much more than cutting basic sequences. adding stills, v/o soundtracks, simple titles, digitising from a mini dv camera and exporting back to it).
like i say i’m sure this is old news to you guys – i’m just a mac virgin wanting some advice
thanks
