He gets into it on around the 42 minute mark. sounds a really smart coherent dude. And he definitely likes X quite a lot.

He makes the point that sub roles are seriously powerful in that you can assign say per actor sub roles within the master dialogue role. and that can all flow to pro-tools in the AAF. it reduces a step for audiopost in identifying what audio belongs to what actor, or what audio record source.

As opposed to audio tracks, which are I suppose just lanes that don’t know anything about what’s on them.

he also has a number of goes at avid, including its keyframing.
    Death To Avid.

He’s right on that- I’m tagging sub Roles on the show I’m on for each character, and they all come in clean as a whistle, tagged and everything. We just need a faster and more efficient way to mass apply Roles to footage.

You should actually listen to the whole interview. Before you get giddy about FCP X versus Avid, there’s a nice discussion about how things like proxy relinking doesn’t work (at about the 1 hr. 30 min. mark).

As far as audio and AAF, I currently have a 10 min. teaser with clips where I’ve embedded double-system sound. I can’t get a clean XML out of it yet for either an AAF or an OMF. It has the guys as IA scratching their heads. We might have it fixed, but I won’t know until next week.

[Oliver Peters] “there’s a nice discussion about how things like proxy relinking doesn’t work (at about the 1 hr. 30 min. mark).”

i thought it had some of the clearest expressions of the problems with proxies as well – at least for me – like what happens to audio and double system sound,
smart focus editor dude seemed to have some clear notions on how it should work.
