  Firewire “unable to locate” question

  I’m trying to hook up a JVC DV deck to my FCP system and it doesn’t/won’t recognize it. I’m using the firewire connection but I get a message that it’s “unable to locate apple firewire (720X480)” and to check connections, or continue and set external device selection to none. Also in the log and capture window there is no communication and even the capture now won’t work.

  I’ve previously had a Panasonic dv2500 hooked up, could it be that it’s looking for that deck and won’t recognize the JVC? I’ve tried new easy setups, custom configurations, not having much luck. Any suggestions on how to get it to recognize the JVC?
