I have an SD program that is prores and the footage was captured through an AJA LHI card. I would like to export that program through the MAC firewire to a DVD recorder. Is this possible? If so, what is the best workflow? I have tried and get all kinds of dialogue that doesn’t seem to work.

I am thinking that the prores codec does not play well with firewire.

I am cutting with Suite 1.5 and an LHI card.

    thanks

This is not related to ProRes, but most likely to your DVD Recorder. As far as I know nearly all DVD recorders with FireWire inputs do support a protocol that is slightly different from the protocol decks or cameras are using, and they therefore do not work correctly with edit systems.
One thing you could try, though, is to set your Acquire media codec to DV, since this decides what format the FireWire output will try to play out. Even if most of your material on the timeline is ProRes footage, if you set the acquire codec to DV the system will play DV via FireWire.

The formula we use to output back to DVCam is:

    Project Settings:
Codecs (aquire/import and firewire output) SET TO DV

    Preferences:
Video Output (output HDe set to DV) SET TO DV and SELECT DV DECK TOO
also Device Control: (Firewire and Select Deck too)

You should now see image thru the DV recorder and be able to use “Master to Tape” via File Menu.
