Firewire / External preview problem
Hello All, I have Vegas (7) hooked up to an external preview monitor via firewire through a Canopus ADVC110. Everything was working fine when all of a sudden while working in Vegas my preview went black and the software froze. Force quit, rebooted etc. Vegas then would not start up, it kept freezing on startup. I switched the firewire cable to another port on the computer and all works fine. Did the firewire port go bad? That port still powered the Canopus box, but Vegas just won’t run with that port being used. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Do you have another firewire piece of hardware that you can plug into that port? Like maybe a camera to capture video?
I blew a firewire port once myself but it did’t afffect Vegas, just couldn’t use the port.
You have to narrow down if it’s the port or the ADVC110. I have the AVDC100.

Hi Allen,
Since the ADVC110 works on the other firewire port, I would think that means that the ADVC110 is working o.k. I can try capturing video through the port that is not functioning with Vegas to see what happens. Thanks for your reply.Thanks
