Anyone know if there is a Finder Pop utility for OSX. Great piece of freeware that allowed the user to access apps from anywhere on the screen via contextual menus. A window would pop up wherever the cursor was. Very quick and highly configurable.

Also, at the risk of raising the ire of people here, is there a Windows-style task bar available for OSX?

If you’re talking about the way it displays running programs, then no, I don’t know of anything. But if you’re talking about the Start Menu I can help you there:

Open up your main drive and drag a copy of the Applications folder onto the dock next to the trash can. (Folders have to stay at that end of the dock.)

Then, right click that folder on the dock. Instant “Star Menu!”

    hello…

f9 -> f11 are pretty handy for quickly getting to other apps, windows in the current app and the desktop – also, apple-tab gets you the app switcher to get to other apps as well – no context menus, but once you get used to the function ones you wonder how you lived without them, imho…

as for the task bar – put your dock on the bottom and then right-click on any icon that is for an open app and you get the list of available windows open for that app in the context menu…

and forgot to mention – you can do hot corners of your desktop to trigger the f9-f11 functions – very handy as well and even easier than a context menu if you make one of ’em f9 (show all apps)…
